A few month ago, Google announced that a new maintenance update for Android Nougat is rolling out to Pixel and Nexus 5X owners participating in the Android Beta program. The developer preview is exclusively available only to owners of the aforementioned devices, although a version for the Nexus 6P is also expected to follow soon.
Google’s Pixel lineup came out with many interesting features that made Nexus owners wishing for more. The most notable Pixel features was ‘Swipe for notifications’, that offers the ability to access notification panel by just swiping down on the fingerprint sensor located at the back of the device. It looks like that Nexus 5X have got their wish granted.
Now that Nexus 5X is getting the update for bringing the new feature, we think Nexus 6P might also get it in the coming days. Both the devices – Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X use the similar fingerprint sensor that’s embedded into Pixel. However, Google Pixel’s fingerprint scanner has a different setup which offered notification feature out of the box. It simply meaning that Google really worked hard on the Android 7.1 update for the Nexus 5X to bring the same functionality aboard.
The ‘Swipe for notifications’ is a nifty one feature as it can save you from unlocking the mobile and then swiping down the notification panel from the home page. The new ‘Swipe for notifications’ feature, let user easily access the notification panel with just one step. Nexus 5X users can allow the feature by going to the Settings menu and then selecting ‘Moves’ from the options.
When company rolled out the Android update, many Nexus owner were not happy as it didn’t bring the fingerprint swipe for notification functionality. But now with Android update, company is making up for the delay on Nexus 5X. Even though Google hasn’t made it clear whether the similar update will roll out to Nexus 6P, but we’re quite hopeful that sooner or later, Nexus 6P owner will get it. Android developer preview Android 7.1 is yet to debut on the Nexus 6P, and when it becomes available, then we might see the same feature coming with it.
